I put no thought into this

The finest in the inane details and unimportant trials of my life. Sometimes includes real stories that I just can't top by making stuff up.

I must admit that golf is one sport I do not personally see the point of.  Mark Twain called it the unnecessary interruption of a perfectly good walk and if you wanted to hit something with a stick there seem to be far many better opportunities available.

Yet it seems to me that the vast majority of people using the Internet would not be likely to play golf, although this may be changing as the Internet has long been a haven for everybody instead of just nerds and technogeeks.  But the Internet is hardly the realm of the corporate professional where thousands of Dilbert fans are waiting to mock him at every corner. It just seems that golf advertisements seem to be a waste of the publisher's money, especially since I've clicked on some accidentally. It's not like fencing that I plan to take up eventually as soon as some financial and transportation issues are settled, it's something that fails to interest me completely.

Perhaps this will continue to be one of those mysteries like why people continue to watch televised golf.

After months of searching, I have finally found an offline blogging tool that works with Blogger Beta.   While I was happy with Qumana, Qumana has not caught up to the needs of the new blogger yet and I hope they will do so in time.  In the meantime, Performancing, which is a plug in for the popular Firefox browser (I don't know if a version exists for Iceweasel users) seems to be filling the role admirably.

Spanish King denies shooting drunk bear

Honestly, I'm undecided as to whether this really happened or not. Yeah, it's bizarre enough that I could see it happening, I could also see someone doing it just to make the King of Spain look bad. On the other hand, I didn't know Spain had a king until I saw this article on PeoplePC's strange news links today.

Where in Hell is Carmen San Diego?

I must admit I've always wanted to see this game and thinking seriously to do it myself. Of course, I couldn't call my villian Carmen San Diego due to copyright laws, but I could get away with a lot more since myg ame would obviously be a parody.

I also intend the game to be educational and mythologically correct to the various views of the afterlife so it's not just a total waste of time. Anyone interested in doing the art for this project?

Thank Goodness, It's Over

Ever notice how celebrations of any particular event are a royal pain in the but for the locals? The town's harvest festival went on for the past few weeks. I'm long past the age where I'd at least be able to get some candy out of the deal for an otherwise extremely boring event like the parade that takes the place.

No, since I'm older and working for a restaurant I get the fun job of cleaning up the place the day after all the festivities are done. While I've found worse things in the parking lot, including a used condom, there was never so much of it.

Thank goodness I don't have to deal with this for another year.

I wish I could write my manager's reviews

You know, there are times when I think the greatest idiots in the corporate world -- that is mangers, are called on to review their employees. Strange how they're expected to rate our performance, yet you are not allowed to criticize theres. I think if that were the case, corporations would soon have to fire a lot of Machiavellian style managers who are not popular with their employees. I suppose something like this Employee Appraisals and Reviews might help them, but then again it may not.

Certainly, my reviews of there performance would not be as good as they'd like to think it is.

Sorry about the lack of updates

Well, folks.   I haven't posted here in a while. It's not that I haven't meant to, it's just that other things kept coming up.  Sure a lot of inane and unimportant things have been happening in my life right now, but not one I want to right about.

At least I found out today I can have pets in my new apartment if I put down a small security deposit.   Too bad I can't get the cat I'd want back, an old male tabby I'd unfortunately stuck with the name of Libby.  (I believed the person about the cat's gender when I got it from her and never bothered to check.  The vet told me the cat was male.  Unfortunately, I'd had the cat for nearly a year and it had gotten used to being called Libby, although I'm sure the cat could care less as long as it was fed.  (If only I could have gotten it to stop treating live mice as cat toys after realizing it was going to be fed no matter what.  On the bright side, I never woke up after that and found 'presents' in front of my fan that I initially thought were dust bunnies.
